On the 19th of October, our servers are undergoing essential maintenance that means your website will temporarily go offline.
We need to upgrade the operating system on one of our physical servers to the latest version to ensure we continue to receive the latest security patches. The easiest way for us to do this is to move your virtual machine to a new server that’s already been upgraded. Your website will be unavailable during the transfer process. Should something go wrong during the migration we will be able to boot the old server up and resume operations within minutes.
This means you will benefit from a free upgrade to high-speed SSD hard drives, which boost your website’s performance (and perhaps help its SEO, too).
We will commence work at 23:00 BST on Thursday 19th October and expect to complete it by 05:00 BST on Friday 20th October. At some point during this time, your website will be unavailable for 2-5hrs.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused, but this is a mandatory upgrade and part of our stringent due diligence processes and ongoing commitment to help ensure the servers on which your website(s) resides are kept as secure as possible.
Do you use PPC or other paid traffic sources?
Remember, if your website pays for PPC advertising, such as Google AdWords, you should temporarily pause your ad campaigns to avoid sending traffic to your site during the hours in which it may be offline.
