DAVID SHILLINGLAW SOLO EXHIBITION
London based artist David Shillinglaw was born of British parents in 1982 in the Middle East, which may explain his thirst for travel and exhibiting in galleries worldwide. Since graduating from Central Saint Martins in 2002 he has exhibited in galleries in Japan, China, The Gambia, Holland, and key cities such as NY, London, Berlin, and Istanbul, to name but a few.
Presented by CultureLabel and in aid of Mind, David will be showing his latest artwork (including paintings, prints & drawings) and launching his new book, The Mechanics of Happiness, at an upcoming exhibition at The Palm Tree Gallery, starting next week.
“The work for this series is inspired by the struggle to find balance and the quest for happiness. This is an issue I feel affects all of us every day as we attempt to create a peaceful and organised mind. It seems natural at this point to apply aspects of my practice to illustrating and raising awareness of both problems and solutions associated with mental health awareness. Art has the power to create a space to ask questions without necessarily demanding answers. I am excited at the prospect of my artwork being associated with Mind and the work they are doing to support people with mental health problems.”
Entry is free and 15% of all profits from art sales will be donated to Mind, who provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem.
We hope to see you there…
